Our last day of landings

Today was our last day of landings and once again it was an incredible day! This morning we woke up on our way to Deception Island, 6:00am wake up call so we could watch as we sailed through Neptune's Bellow as we headed to Telefon Bay (a collapsed volcanic cone) Once we arrived we went ashore for a guided walk to a crater that was created during the eruptions of 1969-1970. Interesting hike, but not our favorite landing, little to no wildlife. The staff offered an opportunity for a polar plunge for the guests that were crazy enough to do it. (No we did not jump in!!!!)

Our final landing was at Bailey's Bluff, which is a site that is rarely used due to conditions, our luck with the weather continues and we got the rare opportunity to land and see a colony of Chinstrap penguins. (100,000s of them) The baby chicks all stayed in their nests, we had the pleasure of watching the adults going to and from the ocean for feeding. It was like watching traffic in rush our... little skinny guys going out to sea and big fat plump ones coming back.

Drake Passage here we come... YIKES!!!!!! 2.5 days at sea, before we reach Ushuaia, then ~24 hours of traveling to SFO.
