Boy did we see penguins

Today was our first landing at New Island in the Falkland Islands. An early start to the day, left the ship at 6:30 am and returned three ours later. Nice hike to the cliff side of the island where we saw thousands and thousands of Rockhopper penguins, boy were they cute little things! ...and the babies were adorable fluffy little balls of feathers. They were very curious about us and if you sat still they would walk right up to you. The little guys were hopping up and down very steep cliffs to get in and out of the water. Watching them hop around definitely puts a smile on your face Nesting Albatross' and Blue-eyed Cormorants shared the side of the cliffs with the Rockhopper penguins. As we sat and watched the Cormorants would steel nesting material from other birds and take it back to their nest. We got some great pictures this morning, Still having issues posting pictures to the blog, so I'll post some on Facebook. Our afternoon landing is at Saunders Island, although we just had a change of plans, they were planning to do a landing on the South side of the islands, but the winds increased and it was not safe for us to go ashore. We went to the North side of the island to see if conditions are better. (conditions were definitely better, but still very rough. It was a exciting zodiac ride in and out, but well worth it. We went to a large penguin colony that had three types of Penguins (Magellanic, King (second largest penguin), Gentoo (third largest) I sat and watched the parents feeding the babies. It was a surreal experience seeing the penguins going out to sea and returning to feed the babies, thousands of Penguins waddling across the sandy beach. BTW, did I mention that we saw thousands of penguins and we'll be seeing more.
