On our way to Antarctica!
Yesterday we left South Georgia and the calm waters. We have two days at sea before we reach Antarctica. We are currently experiencing 15 foot swells (and bigger)... the staff is saying that it is usually much worse than this... thank goodness for sea sick meds!!! Now that we have hit rough waters the staff has hung barf bags throughout the ship. (hoping we won't need them) Another indication of how very rough it can be in these waters is that the chairs in the restaurant are all chained to the floor.
Today has been a very lazy day, the boat is really rocking and rolling. Once again I am delirious on sea sick medications.
So far we have seen several different species of Penguins:
Rockhopper - Falkland Islands
Gentoo - Falkland Islands & South Georgia
King - Falkland Islands & South Georgia
Magellanic - Falklands & South Georgia
Chintrap - South Georgia
Macaroni - South Georgia
